Update On Re-Opening Church in Oregon...
Many have been asking the question - "when can we meet with each other again and enjoy Sunday worship together?"
Here is our latest update (May 20th) ~
Clatskanie Baptist Church is part of Columbia County, which has recently entered "Phase 1" of the Three Phase plan outlined by our state government. Detailed information can be found here.
Phase 1 allows for local gatherings to take place but limits their size to 25 people while enforcing social/physical distancing rules of staying 6 feet apart and wearing face coverings while indoors.
With these limitations in mind, CBC leadership recently met to consider how to address these requirements while providing worship accommodations for all members and attenders - whether within the building or apart due to health concerns.
Basic math reminds all of us that as yet, CBC cannot return to our previous schedule of worship and still provide access to everyone.
Providing multiple services on a Sunday presents other challenges and logistical concerns (such as crowding of lobbies, frequency of cleaning for common points of contact, limitations for recording or streaming live services, etc.) that are difficult to overcome.
While committed to finding creative answers to these limitations and challenges, CBC Leadership has determined that our present online format will continue - since it is the option we can sustain under present health guidelines.
CBC Leadership is aware of legal issues presently being considered by the Oregon Supreme Court and we hope for a timely decision.
We ask that you please continue to pray for the Lord's will to be accomplished - in both the rulings of men and the attitudes of our own hearts - so that the body of Christ can return to being together as we worship Him in spirit and in truth!
